Zlatan Crljenak

Crljenak - almost forgotten and distinguished grape variety in Croatia, parent of famous variety Plavac mali. We always thought that Crljenak has great potential, so we decided to be a part of research that showed that this variety is genetically identical to Zinfandel and Primitivo.

After this discovery, we planted over 50.000 vines of this variety in our vineyards below Mt. Biokovo and in 2007, we were the first winery in Croatia that produced a bottle of Crljenak and we are very proud of it.

Zlatan Crljenak is fresh, aromatic wine known for its dark red colour and aromas of dark-red fruits with pepper on the finish. Full bodied wine with rich structure. Crljenak wines have higher acidity and softer tannins so we say they are a little bit fresher and smoother when compared to Plavac mali. After hand picking and procession of the grapes this wine ages in barrique barrels 12 to 18 months.
